TUAN CHAU HA TAY Entertainment Theme Park

HA TAY PROVINCE VIETNAM

With the a fast developing lifestyle of the Vietnamese people and the increasing interest in Vietnam as a tourist destination, Tuan Chau Ha Tay Joint Stock Company was assigned to develop 3 precincts in Ha Tay Province. Urbanscope Architects led by Masaaki Ikeda was commissioned to prepare a proposal for 2 of the precincts.

Masaaki commissioned Peter Rektor and Designfocus to collaborate with Urbanscope, in designing and preparing the Master Plan for the Ecological Tourism and Entertainment Park precinct.

The Theme Park covered an area of approximately 23 ha, with a unique design full of bright colours and interesting, exciting, and attractive rides and activities, as well as traditional Vietnamese cultural activities, an aquarium and avairies. Our early artist impression of the Theme Park concept design indicated all of the exciting features proposed.

The Laser Show with a 12,100 seat capacity, entertains visitors with state-of-the-art laser shows with music, sound, light technology and film projections on the water screen.

Ski Vietnam, another unique feature, with chairlifts to the indoor "mountain top" with black, blue and green runs for skiers of all levels.

A Space Shuttle ride, with a full auditory and sensory experience - (became a great hit).

The Cultural Centre featured elements of traditional Vietnamese characteristics and these were also interlaced throughout the park, to convey a sense of everyday village lifestyle.

Traditional music shows and special dishes were showcased in these areas. State-of-the- art animatronics brought exciting realism to the resident mammals.

The climate conditions of this area was also highly suitable for scenic hot-air ballooning.

Like many destinations that relied on tourists, Covid’s impact on travel to Vietnam created a difficult time - however, a 2022 Trip Advisor article provided information relating to a Dinner package that combined a Dolphins and Sea Lion Show and a Music Water Show on the Grand Stage (modeled on the Sydney Opera House) - so tourism is coming back.

In 2021, King Kong Park was built as an added attraction, with hundreds of sculptures of all sizes, representing prehistoric and mythical creatures, including a most intimidating Kong! Very popular with locals and the increasing numbers of tourists.

The Tuan Chau Water Music Performance ‘Palace’ - blends sound and light around the 2.5ha lake, surrounded by a luxurious grandstand. This is still one of the highlights today, of the Tuan Chau Entertainment Park.
