PASPALEY PEARLS COLLINS STREET
MELBOURNE VIC
“The space had its challenges, but we wanted this location. From our flagship experience with Peter Rektor, we knew that he would produce an outstanding result. We were not disappointed “

A stunning pearl boutique at the “Paris-end” of Collins Street
In 2006/07 the Grand Hyatt Melbourne at the “Paris-end” of Collins Street Melbourne, undertook a major refurbishment, including reconfiguration of the Collins Street retail shops - creating more appealing 2-storey spaces, with great street front exposure. This was most attractive to National and International luxury brands - and Paspaley, Bulgari and Emporio Armani became the star tenants, with established Louis Vuitton as their neighbour.
The Paspaley tenancy had many design challenges, due to the 4 very large columns (650 Ø) throughout the showroom space. One column was featured on the raised service desk level, two were featured within the boutique and the 4th was concealed in the back-of-house area. Two new faux columns, clad in highly polished Walnut veneer with “letterbox “ showcases, were integrated into the shopfront and they also concealed two shopfront structural columns.
Once again we collaborated with Venini Murano, to produce a smaller version of the magnificent bespoke centrepiece of the Sydney flagship store. Unique ceiling cutouts, evocative curves and a gold dome, contributed to the ambience of this multi-awarded store, winning ASOFIA Interior Fitout, Interior of the Year, a Special Award for Retail Joinery Mastery, Best Retail Lighting and Master Builders Best Interior of a Renovated Space.
Key elements from this and the flagship store, became the design criteria for the Paspaley Roll-out stores, nationally and internationally.
