PASPALEY PEARLS FLAGSHIP
MARTIN PLACE SYDNEY
“The 5 year planning and renovation process with Peter Rektor, DesignFocus Resource was a labour of love - full of trials and many tribulations. At the outset - I thought that if it turned out half as good as I hoped, I’d be happy. I’m delighted to say - it was so much better”.

Creating the showcase for the luxury that is Paspaley Pearls
15 years after Peter Rektor designed their first boutique in King Street Sydney, Paspaley Pearls commissioned DesignFocus to design their new Flagship boutique, at 2 Martin Place and to ensure to retain the grandeur of the base architecture, whilst creating an outstanding showcase for Paspaley Pearls.
Peter Rektor and his team designed the major construction works undertaken on the ground floor, mezzanine and the lower ground floor - to create a new street level entry from Martin Place, new staircases between the ground and lower ground floors and to extend the mezzanine - redefining this unique space for retail.
The original ceiling, columns and windows were categorised as Heritage items and were lovingly and expertly restored by master craftsmen, under the control of Robyn Trelore.
The stunning bespoke chandelier and wall sconces were designed by Peter Rektor, and Venini Murano, Venice manufactured them. At 4 metres diameter and 4 meters high, the chandelier is the largest of its kind in Australia. The new entry doors off Martin Place, logo carpet and unique showcases were all custom designed by Peter, especially for Paspaley Pearls.
Both Heritage and Council cite 2 Martin Place, as a benchmark for “Adaptive Reuse’. This award winning boutique has been called “the most beautiful jewellery store in the world”. Today, it still looks as fresh and exciting as it did when it first opened and continues to surprise and delight clients, who enter for the first time.
Following the success of 2 Martin Place, DesignFocus was commissioned to design and implement the Paspaley Roll-out boutiques, nationally and internationally.
